Laser Treatment
- A laser is a device that emits powerfully, amplified light. It is most often used in surgery to laze and dissolve tissue. In dentistry, lasers have a number of uses. They are most often used in surgery of the gums and other tissues in the mouth. Dr. Yager will likely use a laser in a procedure called gingivoplasty. In these cases, the gums have overgrown causing the teeth to look smaller or irregularly shaped. The laser allows Dr. Yager to sculpt and shape your gums back to normal. Lasers can also be used in biopsies, frenectomies and to treat certain periodontal conditions. Because the tissue is lased and not cut, it will heal faster and more comfortably.
